Um...I'm still alive!

I have not fallen off the face of the earth...life just got REALLY busy, what with a trip to Louisiana and all.

More on the Passover as I promised... When Christ washed the disciples feet, it was not because they were dirty and it was a way for Him to show servanthood. The disciples were ORTHODOX Jews. There is no way they would have even stepped into a passover room with a speck of dirt on them. Christ was showing them that it is not enough to be ceremonially clean. They needed the cleansing Christ gave them!

On another note, the insurance thing is worked out finally. We know exactly what we owe whom...and will stay away from opthamologists unless absolutely necessary. We didn't know that a "regular exam" was only paid for up to $50...and mine was a couple hundred. But, God blessed us with the money to cover it this month. He is good! Also, my appt with the new allergist is next Friday. Praise God that things are working out...FINALLY!

Here are questions for Jaclyn and Thea...and anyone else who wishes to answer them in the comments. A continuation of the Interview Game...The Body Version

1) If you had to choose a part of your body to be in pain for the rest of your life, what would it be?

2) If you had to pick a place on your body to get pierced except for your ears, what would it be?

3) If you had to have a physical disability, what would it be?

4) If you had to have cosmetic surgery, where would you have it done?

5) If you could buff up any part of your body instantly, what would it be? Only ONE part is allowed.

Jaclyn's Intervie Game

Ok...I know I have the advantage of being the first player because we talk all morning, but I think Jaclyn's Interview Game sounds fun. So here are my answers to her questions...

1.) If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and what would you do?

I would go to Morocco and see all the sites, take a camel ride, and swim in the Mediterranian. I'd stay in an awesome hotel overlooking the sea, and immerse myself in their culture....with Matt of course.

2.) If you could write a book, what would it be about and what is its title?

Matt and I are currently writing a book about Adam's death. It involves four of his granchildren, two boys and one girl, who journey between Adam's family base and Cain's. We have not yet come up with a title. There is much more to the story...but this is a blog...not a book.

3.) What was your greatest fear when you were 10?

Oh goodness. Um, probably clowns and pitch darkness.

4.) Describe your idea of a perfect meal. (Food, atmosphere and all!)

Matt as company. Slightly dressed up. Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney, Anaheim. But that night, they would serve Olive Garden salad, fagoli soup, breadsticks, and fettucini alfredo (chicken parmasian for Matt). But not such big servings that we coudln't eat it all. We would be on a balcony all to ourselves overlooking the waterfall there...just the two of us. For dessert, I'd have tiramisu and Matt would get what he wanted. After that, we'd walk around Downtown Disney with a free shopping spree!

5.) Would you rather eat one fly or 5 sticks of butter?

Oh dear. After checking with Jaclyn as to whether or not I could have toast/biscuits with the butter or water with the fly (she said no to both!)...I think I would take...the fly. ::cringe::

Now it's my turn...if you want 5 questions, then let me know! See Jaclyn's blog for more details on how to play.

Don't forget to check back for more about Jewish tradition at Easter!

What a whirlwind of a weekend!

Wow...God is amazing...last Saturday and Sunday were chock full of Biblical and spiritual realizations. I'll have to space them out over the next few blogs so as not to take up the entire Web space!

First and most incredible realization:

I NEVER knew that the Last Supper was actually part of the Passover Meal that Christ and His disciples took part in as a regular part of Jewish life. Matt and I went to a Jewish Seder on Saturday night. It was so much fun, and so insightful.

The bread that Jesus took and broke is actually the matzah (unleavened bread) that is hidden and then found during the meal. It is called the "Finding of the Afikomen." The father goes to each of his children and asks where the Afikomen is. Finally, he gives them golden chocolate coins as a ransom to get back what belongs to him. God gave Christ as a ransom to bring us back to Him. Then, the Afikomen is broken and given to each member of the family. Christ was broken, and given to us.

Then, the cup that Christ took and said was His blood is really the 3rd cup of the Seder, called the Cup of Redemption. The connection is obvious. Christ was poured out for our redemption! After that, Christ said He would not drink of the vine until we are all gathered to Him. The man doing the Seder said that this means Christ did not drink the 4th cup, the Cup of the Kingdom. He said his opinion is that Christ will pass this cup out at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, and he has and will never drink the 4th cup until Christ is the one that hands it to him. So none of us drank the 4th cup either!

There is more to come...but that's just a little something to start off with!

Here's to Jewish tradition...there is much more to our Christian faith than just Christian faith!

Orange Juice Fighting

As Jaclyn and I currently duke it out as to who could drink a whole pitcher of orange juice, I'd just like to thank God for making oranges. Such a wonderful fruit! OH MY WORD! Right after I typed that sentence, I went back to our IM screen and she had said "well, we'll have to duke it out then..." HOW WEIRD! I love that girl! Never even seen each other face to face and yet we think exactly alike now. If anyone would like to make a donation for two tickets to Colorado...

My back is doing better today. This comptuer chair isn't helping it's recovery, but at least I'm not in a whole lotta pain as I sit still. Looking forward to waking up tomorrow with an even better back. Got a great reccomendation for a different allergist last night. The guy even said he would personally help me switch over. I love the pull that doctors have in the medical world!

Rebecca and her boyfriend (Carrie Furr's brother for those that know her) are here visiting Paul. It's so nice to see her again! We're all having dinner tonight...Autumn Soup and crecent rolls! MMMM!

Ok, Jaclyn and I have come to a compromise. There will be three pitchers of juice. I get the one filled with Orange Peach Mango. It will be a clear pitcher with bright orange and magenta flowers on it, and I get a matching glass. The other two pitchers will be filled with orange juice and cranberry juice. Jaclyn will drink the cranberry juice from a clear pitcher that has cute little white, blue and yellow flowers with green accents. She chose cranberry because it goes better with her pitcher. Matt can have the orange juice in a blue pitcher with silver stars and planets. There...glad we got it settled!

Drink up and live life! Oh... **pinch** just in case you're not wearing green!

Oh, my aching back!

Ok, so the last time I had pain like this in my back was in high school. At least I can still walk around now though. I left work 2 hours early because 4 people told me to leave. Neither Tylenol nor Advil have touched the pain...but the hot bath helped it for like 5 minutes. Too bad I don't have a heating pad.

The insurance stuff is ALMOST done being sorted through. I'm just a sitting duck. Matt wants me to try and find another allergist because the staff at the current office doesn't seem to have it together...but they've worked so hard to get this far. Or at least appeared to work hard...and the lady is beginning to be very irritable with me for calling her. I just REALLY hope that it works out soon...because we think someone new moved in next to us and they smoke (along with the two other heavy smokers in our building) and we can smell it on occasion in our living room. Not good for allergies, asthma, or irritants! ::sigh:: Why must I be such a health hazard?

In other news, we get to go to Louisiana to see Joy and Peter next week! I'm so excited! We haven't seen them since mine and Matt's wedding...and it's good to have Peter back in the USA! It was funny though...Joy called to tell me to bring my meds because apparently it's so polleny there that the rain runs green! Ack! Not to mention they have a cat, but it's not short hair. She did ask me if they could get a second kitten before I come or if they should wait........

Current Mood: cheery but tired of hurting

Current craving: In -n- Out burger, no onions

Current task: to go attempt Shepherd's Pie with an aching back...kinda wish we had chosen home-made pizza for dinner. That sounds better to me.

Current weather: cold and dreary...but it's quite relaxing!

Right Hand...FROZEN!

The title is for you Regan lovers. My office is frezzing again...but for some reason my right hand is like ICE. Maybe my mouse is filled with nitrogen or something.

So the weekend was great. Saturday was BEAUTIFUL! We picniced by the apartment pond with Paul and Tracie, then laid aroudn for an hour. Then Paul and Matt got 50 cent kites at the Dollar Store. We flew those kites for THREE hours! It was sooo much fun! Matt got smart and got one of his fishing line spools, hooked it to his kite, and let it fly. We're talkin' several hundred feet in the air! And boy did it fly for a LONG time. Eventually, he and Paul stuck the spool in the ground, and the kite flew hands free for quite a while. It was awesome! Funny how we can be so entertained by something God created but we can't see...wind!

But...along with all that outdoors activity and high winds came allergy suffering. Since then I have had congestion, itchy light-sensitive eyes, and itchy ears. :: sigh :: That reminds me, I need to call my insurance and allergist once again. I hate being a nag...but they aren't moving faster than Spring's approach. It was so worth it though...fresh air does wonders to the stress level!

I got to pick out more fabric for my next quilt. I'll post pics of my first one as soon as my mom sends me some. This next one will be part of a set of 2 coordinating quilts for twin baby girls a friend of mine had last December. I'm SO excited! I just pray that perhaps this really can become a home business. My itch to stay home is increasing with each passing day. I looked around for custom quilt websites and found a really good one. I e-mailed the lady with some questions, so hopefully I can strike up a good on-line relationship with her and she can maybe be a "quilt/nursery bedding entrepreneur mentor."

:: Tennesee style :: Hope all is well in all ya'll's necks of the woods!

Did it really happen?

Ok...WOW. Was I really AT a Groban concert? It was so bizarre to sit there watching this guy in person. This guy that me and so many of my friends love to hear sing!

High point of the evening: "getting to know him" better. He's quite the casual guy with a sense of humor. People kept yelling from the crowd. He started talking about how cold it was outside. Some freak from the crowd yelled "I'll keep you warm!" Josh was a little taken aback, and responded with an awkward face and a little growl. Then he said "Well, I was gonna say I was growing a beard to keep warm, but I guess that works." It got really awkward/funny when men started yelling "I love you, Josh." Weirdos! I just hope they don't drive him to suicide because they treat him as an idol instead of a person.

Low point of the evening: having a sense of loss deep inside because my guysoulmate and girlsoulmate were not with me. I was sad not to share something that awesome with Matt...and it made me so sad to not have Thea there to feel everything as deeply as I did! If it's the last thing we do, we are GOING together someday you two!

However, I can NOT forget to mention how fun it was to be with my mom, lil sis, and life-long best friend. Cherish those girlfriends!!! It was a blast to get away from life with just my girls!

Current Want: A diffuser. I can wear my hair curly now that it's short...but it looks crunchy because it air dries. Diffusers are lovely to have! Someday I guess.

Current Goals: 1) To lose 20 pounds or a couple inches, whichever comes first. 2) To go on a saving spree with Matt so that we can start preparing for a brighter future.

Current Praise: God is so good! Yesterday we found out that Matt's department is going to shift from the Library to Computing Services. This is PERFECTION! God answered several months of prayer. Not only does this mean Matt will get to do more of what he is expert at, but it also means a slight to moderate jump in salary. No computer guy should be paid on a Library scale. So, we are staying in Jackson for several more years. I welcome the security of knowing I don't have to start all over in a few months. So many doors are opened now...possible house instead of apt, possible kid sooner than later, and we get to stay at the church we found. ::sigh of relief:: Again, GOD IS GOOD!

Current Prayer: That insurance would continue working out quickly so I can start allergy shots and get my head MRI's before April in order to save money. Our deduc starts over in April.

Ok, I could probably go on and on. But you all have lives too. And I should probably try to find something to do here at work. It's nice to be slow...Wednesday I was so stressed my hands were shaking!

Gonna post more pictures soon of the various ways I can wear my hair now. Thanks for the compliment Thea...it's your turn next. ::evil laugh::

Cookie Starts with 'C'

So...who else is hungry? If there was one thing I could crave right now...it would be...umm...my raspberry chocolate chip devils food cake with cream cheese frosting I made a couple weeks ago. Several Olive Garden items come to mind as well. Lunch...1 hour and 8 minutes.

I'm doing much better today. No headache, though I am beginning to feel a dull sensation in the middle of my head. It'd better STAY AWAY! I have alot to do today--cleaning, sewing, and packing for tomorrow.

I'm so excited to go on a little trip with just girls! I will miss Matt terribly. It's the first time we'll spend a night apart since we've been married. But...I know it will still be oh so fun! And who said you can't wear a formal to a stadium? I can think of one person that would have gone all out with me had she not been halfway across the world... Oh well. Guess I'll settle for WARM clothes since it is supposed to snow up in Evansville. ::nightmares of what happened last time we went to Eville when it snowed::

I agree with Aut...this is like therapy. Just writing down thoughts and how things are going if kind of cleansing. Which reminds me...

Biblical thought for the day... God required the Israelites to sacrifice the fat, kidneys, and lobe of the liver on the tabernacle's altar. They had to burn the flesh and skin outside the camp. What is the significance of those three body items? I had the thought that the kidneys and liver are part of the body's cleansing process...to remove the bad toxins that contaminate the body. Symbolic? Or was it that those, along with the fat, were considered the "best" parts? Something to ponder. And after you are done pondering...remember how great it is that Christ died for us and we don't have to sacrifice on altars anymore!

:: sigh ::

Ok...so five days of battling a headache is beginning to take it's toll on me.

Quilting was fun, nevertheless. I can't wait until Wednesday when I can give my mom the quilt I've been working on for her. It's so funny to bring in my first quilt and the little Hens come and chatter away giving me hints for my next quilt. Those ladies are so cute...and Natalie GAVE me her blackberry preserves. They are oh so tasty!

I hope work passes by quickly today. My fingers are already like ice, I need a shoulder massage, and just thinking about my soft sheets and cushy pillow is making me more lethargic with each passing second. I'm glad God gave me a patient husband who won't mind going home to a not-so-perfect house.

Gotta get to work putting some folder thingies together!

Josh Groban count down...TWO DAYS!

God Made Fridays

So it is Friday already? Or is it finally Friday? Either way you look at it...I'm glad it's Friday.

I've come to the conclusion that...I still LOVE my hair! I curled it all under today and it is oh so cute! It is extremely easy to manage which was a nice discovery. The one thing I've had to get used to today is short hair vs. wind. It won't stay put AT ALL behind my ears when the wind blows! But it's endurable and reminds me that I have a cute do.

I've also come to the conclusion that either I take meds and get nauseated or don't take meds and get headaches. Can I get a woop woop for the day we get our glorified bodies?

Matt and I are having an "in-house" date night tonight. Since our computer is finally up and running with our awesome speakers, we're gonna pick a movie we own but haven't seen in a while (aka any of them) and watch it on our computer. Matt let me get two beach-type chairs today to put in the hobby room so we can have comfortable seating for movies and for when we have students over for par-tays. It'll be fun tonight...and the best part? He bought me Dreamery Coney Island Waffle Cone ice cream the other night and we have left over brownies to eat it with. MMMMMM!

In the mean time...if only this stupid headache would go away!

Weather was gorgeous today...can't wait to walk with Tracie tonight!

My New Do! Posted by Hello

It's a Brand New Day :: singing ::

Hello new world! I LOVE MY HAIR! What was I thinking living with long hair? So many more options are available when you have shorter hair. AND...my curls come alive now when my hair is wet. So now I can wear my hair curly, wavy, flattened, culed up, curled under, or curled up/under, half up, boby pinned on one side....the options seem to be endless!

I actually SLEPT better last night too. No ponytail diggin into my head and no getting hair wrapped around my neck or in my face. It was lovely!

The best part? Matt still likes it! A picture is coming soon...I promise!

The no-bake cookies I made last night didn't turn out like they should have. They were tasty alright. But they didn't set up very well. We ended up calling them goo balls rather than no-bakes. A guy at cell groups said those are his favorites and the first time he made them they did the same thing. He said he's figured out that the longer you rapidly boil the chocolate mixture, the firmer the cookies will set up. Now...if I had any oatmeal left...I'd try it again!

Anyways, I wanna give a shout out to Thea...she's the greatest bonnie lass!

Post at ya'll later!

AAAHHHH!

I DID IT! THE DEED HAS BEEN DONE! Good news...the lady that cut my hair? She's trustworthy. She actually spent time brushing and playing with my hair before she even started cutting so that she could get to know it. She said, "You have beautiful hair. And let me guess. We're cutting it all off?" Before she made the first cut she said, "Are you ready?" I was thankful...the first thing I said to her was that I was nervous.

So you ask, do I like it? The answer is yes...but it will take ALOT of getting used to. My head feels pounds lighter and I can actually feel my hair move when I shake my head. I hope I like it even better when I've played with it myself. It could use a washing too...she put that waxy stuff in it. It's more career womanish than I wanted...but I think after I do it, it will be more feminine. She cut 4-7 inches total, depending on where you measure.

I should be able to post pictures tomorrow morning.

On another note, I really hope Matt and I can leave his work soon. I gotta take a shower, make the cookies, make dinner and eat, and then get to cell groups! Oh, and Jaclyn? They are basic no-bake cookies...the oatmealy chocolate kind.

Here's to the three amigas of hair cutting...Autumn, Dawn, and Jaclyn! We could weave a rug with all the hair we've chopped off in the past 24 hours!

Frosty Morning

Yep...still cold.

Fruit is a wonderful thing. Especially when you destroy it in a blender. Mmm...strawberries, banana, and V8 Splash tropical blend. Helps move things along, that's for sure!

Today's the day. I'm EXCITED to get my hair cut! I'm not nearly as nervous today as I have been. I think that's because I know EXACTLY how to explain what I want, and I'm armed with two pictures of hairstyles. Matt is going to take before and after pictures. So perhaps after I have an "after picture," I can post that in my profile. Autumn got her picture up...I want one too!

I get to make no-bake cookies today, some of Matt's favorite. I want to see if I can mold them in my mini-muffin pan. I think that'd be cuter than just flat cookies. And if it doesn't work...oh well. I'll make another batch and bring the failure to work. Math professors hunt high and low for free food!

A week from today I will be on my way to a Josh Groban concert with a best friend, my mom, and little sister! Woo Hoo! Thank you, husband, for such a wonderful birthday present! What to wear, what to wear? I'm trying to convince everyone to go formal.

:: hoity toity look with an English accent :: That's how they do it in Los Angeles!

Anyway, I should get back to work now. As if there's anything urgent to get done. Praise the Lord for slow times after the chaos that was January and February!

Freezing Day

Ok, so the weather has taken a turn for the COLD! Thankfully, today my office is not a refrigerator like it was yesterday. We humans are so fickle. It is a good thing God gives us seasons. Seems like He is catering to us who like change...and yet we still get tired of cold or hot after just a few days. What discontentment abounds!

My health is going down with the weather, too. Pretty sure it's because things are starting to bloom. Pray my insurance company gets all its kinks worked out soon so I can start allergy shots!

Tomorrow. 2:00. A scary but hopefully exciting time. I am going to someone new for a hair cut after years of being loyal to Glynn. Nightmares of past ruined cuts haunt me. But I really want to have a cute shorter cut. And I can't keep going to Little Rock just to get my hair cut. Johnna came highly reccomended. Let's hope "they" are right! I keep chanting to myself, "It's just hair. It grows back. It'll always grow back."

It does grow back, right? {:- /

By the way, V8 Splash Tropical Blend is SO tasty!
