General Cuteness

An adorable apple hat from Kay, and a cute combination of clothes for Judah.

Again, do most children have such odd sleeping habits??
1) Blanket over head.
2) Feet resting on bumper/crib or through the crib.
3) ALWAYS across the mattress rather than the normal position.

Shoulder time!

Enough Video...On to Pictures

Ok, so posting video makes me neglect really cute pictures. So I shall make this a picture post!

First let me say that I am making my first pot roast today AND using the crock pot. Two unheard of things in this apartment. It smells SO good and it's making me want some biscuts right now!

Judah is getting heavier, taller, more active, more intelligent, and is of course as cute as ever. He is also showing signs of knowing when he is being told "no." I just hope this not-napping-well and waking-up-early stint stops SOON. I'm kinda tired of it, ya know?

Not to mention I haven't been sleeping well either. Not sure what it is. My migraines and tense shoulder muscles have started acting up again...after 2 and a half years of freedom from it. Say a prayer?

Now to pictures!

New clothes from the Clothes Fairy. Woo hoo!

Judah often rolls over now...all over the place. This is his crib peeking maneuver -- and now that we've moved his mattress down, we can no longer crawl past his door or crib without him seeing us. It was HILARIOUS the first time we attempted a crawl by his door so he wouldn't see us after we had put his mattress down. I got in view of the door, there on my hands and knees, and POP...up came his head above the bumper with the biggest grin! (The pic is not of this event, but it's still cute!) Judah helped me "fold clothes" one day on the bed. He loves the hampers for some reason! Just a happy kid in his activity seat and then a happy kid after a GOOD nap.

How can you resist such cuteness?

His current favorite toy: pail and shovel from sweet Doreen (also seen above in the Plumber pics). We took them to the beach with us and had so much fun! And did I mention we forgot the camera when we went to the beach last? It was his first time as an alert, mobile baby to encounter sand. We're so sad we didn't get pictures -- but it is a family memory for us! In this pic, he's asking if you want to play with his pail. :-)

Judah and his bucket of sunshine. He likes to play on our bed, probably because it's so big and cushy and soft. He was fascinated when his bucket would light up!

Remember the previous video of Judah having gotten a flower off the coffee table shelf? He was at it again today, only he's moved up from the flower to Daddy's Popular Science magazines. I let him have some fun with it. ;-)

And did I mention his biggest and cutest milestone that began this past week??? He waves hello and goodbye now -- and started to all by himself! Sometimes he chooses to wave, sometimes he chooses to just hold his hand out high (kind of like a Nazi, but we won't call it that!). :-) It's adorable!

Here's a pic update on the tooth progress as well as his gorgeous eye color that is NOT brown despite how many people say "Oh what big brown eyes you have." .... >:-P

Hope we got some smiles on your face with this post!

Where's the Beef?

Judah's introduction into carnivorous manhood. Get ready to laugh and feel pity; but please know that he would have rejected them completely if he did not like them (as seen with the mashed potato incident). I just gave him a lunch of beef, green beans, and bananas; and he seems to be accepting of the beef now. Sometimes it takes a little time to get used to a new flavor, yes?

Feelin' Loved

Goodness...I'm just reveling in all the comments I've gotten lately. Who knew that something so trivial could make you feel so loved? :-P Maybe I should post about more than Judah more often.

A couple for the records...

1) ALRIGHT! I fess up. I did NOT season the mashed potatoes. I added a little WATER to thin them out. NO I would not eat them like that myself. YES I tasted them and admitted to myself they were not appealing, but that was only after Judah's rejection of them. He's my first kid--there's room for trial and error, right?

2) I would spend all day every day with everyone if I could. Why can't someone figure out how to...oh my gosh my mind went blank. What's it called on Start Trek when they beam someone up? Oh dear. It has COMPLETELY left my brain. "Transport" seems too simple of a word. Anyone remember? Anyway, if someone could just figure out how to do that, living so far away wouldn't be a hard thing. :-) I think my mom's idea about visitors coming to her house is a good idea--emotionally and financially! Especially at night so that Judah can go to sleep when he needs to. And Aut, of COURSE I will spend time with family...most of the people I meant when I said "lots of people want to see us" was family members! Esp. Nonie and Gramps since they are the reason we are even able to come to LR!

Ok, glad that confessional is over.

Here are some great videos of Judah! The first video was taken this morning. Did I ever mention Judah likes to bang on things with his hands as much as he likes to kick? Well, Matt may have started something new for Judah; and it's cute...for how long?

**Check back later for the next one...having issues***
The second demonstrates his new favorite sound--lip razzing. It is the most adorable thing I've ever heard, and the video doesn't even do justice. He gets his lips ALL wet and does a high pitched sound as he razzes them, occasionally using his tongue too which just intensifies the sound. Also in this video, you can see his favorite crib position...and again, I've never seen any baby kick anything and everything so much.

Rejected: Too Cute

We had a little outing to Target today...and Judah was adorable!

Look closely for the peek-a-boo tooth!

As to the previous post...
~Matt wouldn't be caught dead in my apron.
~I think we have to throw my palm out. The only thing I could find was "butt rot" but I'm not even sure that's it. But we do think the time this stuff started appearing was around the same time Matt started getting head sick. Hmm. Out it goes. ::Sigh:: I'll grow Patricia into this pot and have two. Enough with any other plant -- my Patrick/Patricia/need-new-name has lived for 6 years without ANY problems. Humph.
~I didn't season the potatoes for Judah -- he's only 7 months old. But no, I wouldn't eat an unseasoned potato myself.
~I HAVE given Judah bananas, to clear up the misunderstanding. And Judah like the baby food bananas and the real banana. I don't like the smell of the baby food bananas. Yuck.
~Tracie, you'll be in LR for a couple days, but we can't spend that whole time with you! There's lots of other people that want our time...I wish we could be there for a long while!
~Rachel, Avatars are a Yahoo Messenger thing. Think of it as the "paper dolls" of the Internet world. I find them very fun! You get to choose hair, face, eyes, skin tone, clothes, background, etc. The one hairstyle I like is very Aniston.

Gotta feed Judah!
~

Randomninity

Ok, so if you haven't read the comment string from the previous post, you should. Matt's humor pitted against Autumn's always makes me grin. I love to watch them banter! That said, I think I have decided to go with a little below the shoulders and angled in the front...kind of like one particular Avatar hair style. Is it weird to print a pic of an Avatar, take it to your hair stylist, and say "I want this"? :-P I don't think I'll go as long as it used to be for those who knew it then. I'm grown up now. Ha!

We have given Judah two official table foods now, all mashed up of course. The first was banana and of course he like it -- he's my child. The second was potato. We now know that Judah will NOT eat what he does not like. First bite = squenched up face. Second bite = squenched up face + shiver. Third bite = zero. He wouldn't even unsquench his lips to allow any part of that potato spoon in his face. So I got him some baby food mixed veggies (a favorite) instead. I felt bad because with the first bite of the veggies, I could tell he didn't trust me because he made a squenched face when I approached his face with the spoon. Too bad the camera batteries were dead. :-(

There's whitish/yellow creamy looking stuff starting to appear around the base of my baby potted palm where the stems meet the soil. This seems like it should not be a good sign, but I've always wanted a palm plant. Do I have to throw it out? I know not else what to do.

Titus 2sdays was great today. Matt has decided he will stay home and watch Judah every other Tuesday morning so I can spend time with the ladies at church...just me. The practical part today was on breast cancer awareness by my prayer partner Cindy who is also a family doctor. The spiritual part was on a method of Bible study. I love the group I'm in this year! A good mix of ages and walks of life.

We did get the Tae Bo DVD we ordered. Have we done it yet? Ha! Soon, I promise.

Anybody else getting annoyed about this produce E-coli thing? I just threw away a very nice head of green leaf because of the newest recall (only affecting 7 states) on produce from Salinas Valley. I'm not sure how much we'll be touting the fact that we lived in the Salinas Valley when we move. Although, when you say you moved from "Salinas"... I just want some spinach with my cottage cheese and toasted almonds! And I still am waiting to try Olive Garden's spinach alfredo. Of course, now that spinach is ok, we don't have that extra $25 sitting around like we did last month. Isn't that usually how it goes? :-P

Speaking of produce...Gilroy is the garlic capital. Want proof? This is ONE clove of a bulb I recently bought from Safeway. The recipe called for two cloves. I used one.

Hope you all are sleeping well! Off to sleepy land I go. Lost: Season 3, Episode 2 is tomorrow night!

::stunned::

Wow! I didn't think I'd get quite that many comments to my previous post. Thank you! However, I'm not quite sure we got anywhere with a decision. :-P Seems like the answers averaged to the shortest cut and the longest cut. Go figure. Here are my pros and cons to each:

Shortest:
1) Makes me FEEL spunky, energetic, and dare I say it sexy. I got it cut like that while I was pregnant and boy did it give me a self-confidence boost as my belly and body got bigger. So, Aut, you were write about the pregnant face and no offense taken. I too wondered how much better it would look with a slimmer face.
2) It dries very quickly and is a no fuss do. And if I did want to use my straightener, it takes no time at all.
3) I can't put it up.
4) I feel that short hair, though fun and flirty, does not let my hair live up to its potential. (I hope that doesn't sound vain.)

Longest:
1) Makes me feel carefree, romantic, and soft.
2) I can do several different styles with it: up, down, braids, ponytails, half-up, etc.
3) I feel that it is one of my greatest assets -- I hear people say that it's hard to have long hair and keep it looking good. I find that it is not hard for me with the right shampoo and regular trims.
4) It takes a long time to dry and I am less likely to do anything with it because of the time involved.
5) Judah is already grabbing, pulling, and squeezing my hair at the length it is now (just below shoulder). I often think of Janet and how her kids sucked on her hair. Indiana Mama is right...shorter hair may be more practical. But then you can put short hair all the way up and out of reach like you can long hair. But even when my hair is up, he finds those little baby hairs at the back of my neck....youch!

All in all, I find it interesting that 1 and 4 would be the top choices because they are also mine. And I also think that the two of them represent me well. You who know me well know that there is a side of me that fits the short do, and also a side that fits the long do. Jenna, I think Matt prefers #3, but he also does the husband thing of "whatever looks good on you!" Maybe he got that from Indiana Mama... ;-)

It's a good thing this decision isn't life or death and that I still have until the end of November to decide. Jaclyn, you as well as Hope and Autumn spurred this deep thinking about hair length. Can't wait to see your new hair!!!

Is this silly to post so much about hair? I feel weird. Perhaps because I haven't posted about me in a while. I'm glad you all still like to know about me...but honestly, my life is Judah right now! :-P Here's the rest of me in a nut shell:

~I could sleep from 8:30pm to 7am and still want to nap once or twice during the day.
~I have ceased sewing and quilting because the borrowed machine has been returned. That leaves scrapbooking which I have yet to hammer out since returning the sewing machine. Gonna go scrapbook with a friend on Saturday while Matt is at church.
~We have a TaeBo DVD coming in the mail in hopes to start up an exercise routine together -- in the mornings, one will walk/run outside while the other stays in with Judah and does the TaeBo. The next morning, we switch. We've got a "get fit" goal for Thanksgiving. Let's hope we stick to it...for once in our lives! :-P
~I'm working on creating/sending our Fall Letter with our family portraits. So much fun! But it takes away time that I could scrapbooking...meh. The scrapbook can wait. Just not 24 years like someone else I know... ;-)
~Rain is so refreshing -- we actually got some last night. We haven't seen rain in MONTHS, I tell you. The weather is very fallish, cool and crisp with partly cloudy skies. I love it!

Judah wants lunch now. Whew! Thanks for letting me talk about me without feeling obligated to post about Judah-udah!

Love to all and have a great fall day!

Call Me a Woman

You know how women can get when it comes to hair. It gets to that stage where you need a cut, but your appointment isn't for a while. Then you talk with a few friends about their hair, and instantly you question what you want when previously you knew you wanted to grow it out. Why is it that we women crave change in our appearance every so often, whether it be drastic or subtle? So I found four good photos each representing a different hairstyle I've had. I like them all for various reasons, but let's take a poll. Which one do you all think looks best with my face and personality? (They are in order of shortest to longest...) I've got a while to decide because I'm crazy about who I trust with my hair. So I'll be getting it cut in Little Rock at Thanksgiving by my faithful Glynn.

And because I know none of you read this to find out how I'm doing, here are some pictures of Judah. ;-)

Helping with laundry -- oh so cute! Hands and knees -- he rocks alot now and we're teaching him how to move forward.

His two fall outfits -- the left was for family portraits, the right because it's adorably lion-ish!

How he sleeps -- it's as if he can't fall asleep unless the blanket is wrapped around his middle and up over his face. I can't tell you how many times I come in after I know he's asleep to uncover his face! And just some floor time with the happy kid.

And back to hair...Hope got hers cut today. If anyone says we are not sisters, they're weird.
